Another Year & Another Jar of Memories

You know each time we set out to do our jar of memories, we start out strong. But as the year goes we forget to capture all the memories. Nonetheless, below are the ones we captured in their relative calendar order. PAL had a good year. It was hard and challenging at times, but we were able to serve our community and that’s what matters!

  • Connected with NEXT Success about getting a remote-based research intern
  • Started working with the Beau Biden Foundation to ensure we have the best practices for the safety of our kids
  • Met with the WSU-V MAP program students for the first time! Excited to hear their recommendations for growth
  • PAL team got to participate in the National Mentoring Summit virtually. We learned so much!
  • Had TWO new board member orientations!
  • Great conversation with the CFSWW about a grant support PAL’s DEI work for the staff and board
  • Promoted Brrurgers, Bites, & Brews live on Koin 6 News!
  • Posted a new position, for our 3rd Program Coordinator!
  • Amazing hybrid version of our literacy program at South Ridge Elementary today!
  • Frontier Prospere had a solid virtual meeting with games and great conversation
  • Met with our DEI Advisory Board to discuss “March” a graphic novel about civil rights
  • Connected with Sean Janson of the WA Timbers to accept FOUR boxes of gently used soccer cleats
  • First DEI workshop for the board and staff and we had 100% attendance! Great learning together and folx felt it was relevant
  • Met with our Amplify Youth Voice planning to team to prep for their next session
  • Received TWO grants todays: $10,000 from the Evergreen Public Schools Foundation AND $17,500 from the CFSWW for our DEI work!
  • Great donor meeting today
  • First in person meeting at South Ridge with Reserve Deputy Amanda Nohrenberg.
  • Friday Night Flicks secured a presenting sponsor of $25,000!
  • Our hearts are heavy as we learn Sgt. Jeremy Brown is killed in the line of duty. May he rest in peace.
  • Our Murdock Grant LOI is accepted! That means we get to move forward with our grant request!
  • Scheduled our 1st in-person Prospere group in over a year!
  • Finished sorting and scanning 4356 PAL forms dating back to 2015
  • 1st literacy like back before the pandemic. Best part? A girl saying, “This is so exciting!”
  • Today was our first in person Prospere group since February 2020 – it was AMAZING!
  • Our board retreat was fabulous and we have a strong direction for the next year
  • Hired a new Program Coordinator, they start in the New Year!
  • Received two surprise donations totaling $21,500!
  • The PAL SUV is officially OURS! Thanks McCord’s for your generosity!
  • Looking to end our fiscal year having raised more than we needed/budgeted.
