The last year PAL has been working on solidifying our values and crafting that into a manifesto of sorts we can share. Along, with our values manifesto we have also been working on our diversity, equity, and inclusion statement. Both are complete now, published to our website and we are ready to share.
Yet, we recognize that this is just one of many steps we are working on taking to show that we are an organization that is not only mission driven, but one that is community minded. We strive to be an inclusive, diverse, and equitable nonprofit with programs that are accessible.
For instance, we now have a translation app connected to our website. A person visiting our website can now read it in a variety of languages. The other piece we are we have committed to as a team is ensuring we include captions on all the videos we share.
So, now for our diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) statement:
OUR COMMUNITY, OUR RESPONSIBILITY
PAL commits to pursue our mission through a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We condemn discrimination in any form. Our families come from diverse backgrounds, and as we seek to serve them, we do so with a growth mindset. We do not have all the answers, but we promise to learn and grow with our community. Additionally, we believe that having a diverse board and staff, reflective of the demographics of the students we serve, provides significant value to our programs and participants.
Our pledge to Clark County to ensure we follow through is threefold:
You can learn more about PAL’s values by clicking here. If you are interested in joining our Diversity & Equity Advisory Board please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more about the process, application, and commitment.
Complimentary to our DEI statement is our PAL Manifesto. For us our manifesto is the core of PAL. It is what we value and how we strive to interact with our community. We are proud of our manifesto and excited to share it with you:
We have to give a huge shout out to Phil Markel who took our words and designed them into what you see above. He is quite a talented graphic designer and you can learn more about his work (or hire him if you have a project) by visiting here.
The work is not done, and even our webpage with all this information is incomplete, but it is a start. PAL is committed to following through, learning, and changing in this process. We are all in this together and we look forward to partnering/collaborating with YOU, OUR COMMUNITY as we all work towards building a safer, stronger, and more vibrant Southwest Washington.
