Turn Jenny’s Hair Purple

Good afternoon friends! Can you believe that it is almost August? Here at PAL we can hardly believe it and for this week’s post we want to clue y’all in on a little challenge we are doing in partnership with McCord’s Vancouver Toyota and The Rad Stylist.

If you couldn’t tell by the title of this post, one of my dreams has been to dye my hair purple and this is the opportunity for you to help me make my dream come true! It’s a pretty simple challenge really. We have two events coming up: Apple Tree Marathon and Give More 24! Between these two events PAL’s goal is to raise $22,000.

If we raise $22,000, Shelbs at the Rad Stylist will dye my hair purple and we will record my reaction to the color change. The challenge gets better though. If we surpass the goal, PAL Board Member, Jeff Tennant from TwinStar Credit Union, will let Shelbs dye his beard blue!

To support all of this, McCord’s Vancouver Toyota has pledged $5,000 in matching funds for our September 24th Give More 24! campaign; which means in some ways we only have $17,000 or so to go!

So how can you give? There are three ways you can support the efforts of raising money for PAL and turning my hair purple:

  1. Join the PAL Squad and run a 5k, half marathon, or full marathon with the PeaceHealth Apple Tree Marathon. By joining the squad you get your race entry for FREE and commit to raising $500 for PAL. Email me at jenny.thompson@cityofvancouver.us to join.
  2. Support a PAL Squad member by donating to their campaign. Visit https://raceroster.com/events/2020/22375/peacehealth-appletree-marathon-half-marathon-and-5k/search-pledgees to find your team member to support!
  3. On September 24th, visits PAL’s Give More 24! page and donate directly to us. You’ll have a full 24 hours on that day to give and the first $5,000 given that day will be matched by McCord’s Vancouver Toyota. Our Give More 24! page link is: https://www.givemore24.org/organizations/police-activities-league-of-sw-washington

And that’s it. Help my dream of purple hair come true by giving in one of the three ways mentioned above. All we got to do is raise $22,000 and if we can surpass it, Jeff will get a blue beard as well!
